Product Introduction
Ferrous sulfate is a kind of inorganic material, chemical formula for FeSO4, the appearance of white powder without smell. Its crystalline hydrate at room temperature for the seven hydrates, commonly known as "green alum", light green crystals, weathering in dry air, surface oxidation into brown alkaline ferrous sulfate in moist air, at 56.6 ℃ to become tetrahydrate, at 65 ℃ to become a hydrate. Ferrous sulfate is soluble in water and almost insoluble in ethanol. Its aqueous solution oxidizes slowly in air when cold and more rapidly when hot. Addition of alkali or exposure to light can accelerate its oxidation. Relative density (d15) 1.897. irritating. Ferrous sulfate can be used as a reagent for chromatographic analysis, spot analysis for the determination of platinum, selenium, nitrite and nitrate. Ferrous sulfate can also be used as a reducing agent, manufacture of ferrite, water purification, polymerization catalysts, photographic plate making.
Uses
It is mainly used in water purification and industrial wastewater treatment, with bactericidal effect. It can adjust the PH value of alkaline water, combine with suspended matter in water organically and accelerate precipitation, soluble in water, easily deliquescent, gradually oxidized in the air and yellowish brown. Used to regulate the pH of the soil, it can make the alkaline soil become less alkaline, and secondly, it can supplement iron to plants. Because plants are also prone to yellowing due to iron deficiency, it can be used in conjunction with watering and fertilizing. Ferrous sulfate is used in gardening to kill moss. Large quantities of ferrous sulfate are used as a reducing agent, primarily to reduce complex salts in cement.
Generally ferrous sulfate contains 19-20% iron and 11.5% sulfur, making it a good iron fertilizer. Acid-loving plants often used to prevent the occurrence of yellowing disease. Because iron is the formation of plant chlorophyll necessary, lack of iron, chlorophyll formation is blocked so that the plant occurs green deficiency, the leaves become yellowish. Aqueous solutions of ferrous sulfate provide a direct supply of iron that can be absorbed and utilized by plants and can reduce the alkalinity of the soil.
At the same time, ferrous sulfate can also be used as a pesticide to prevent and control wheat scab, apple and pear scab, and fruit tree rot; it can also be used as a fertilizer to remove moss and lichen from tree trunks.
